Our leather is produced with traditional vegetable tanning methods. Being a natural, organic material and process, there will be some variation in colour, feel and grain character from batch to batch and skin to skin.
Being produced from wild deerskins, there may be animal signatures on the leather, including scars, insect marks and natural wrinkles and creases.
This variation and the natural markings are what we celebrate about genuine leather, demonstrating that your leather product is authentic and revealing the story of the deer and the craft of tanning and we hope you love that about our leather too!

CARE INFORMATION
COLOUR
Acorn Tanned leather is surprisingly UV stable, but you may notice colour change over time of the leather due to exposure to light so it is recommended to avoid excessive exposure to direct sunlight.
As the leather is not produced with a top coat, to avoid the use of plastic based materials and keep the leather as natural and breathable as possible, colour transfer is possible, particularly with our pigmented 'Dartmoor' colour.
We recommend avoiding prolonged rubbing against light-coloured fabrics.
The leather may be more prone to transfer when wet, so we advise where at all possible keeping your leather item dry (see section on moisture below).
MOISTURE
Our leather has been finished with a natural beeswax conditioner so will be lightly water resistant. However, the leather is not waterproof and will become saturated and wet if exposed to rain.
If your leather becomes wet, allow it to air dry naturally. If it is a little stiff once dry, it will naturally break in with use.
Never use heat to dry your leather item. Vegetable tanned leather is much more sensitive to heat than other leathers and can be irreparably damaged if exposed to high temperatures.
Once dried after getting wet or generally after general use, you may wish to re-apply a natural beeswax conditioner to retain some water resistance. Select products suitable for use with vegetable tanned leather.
CLEANING
If your leather gets dirty, wipe away damp or wet stains with a dry cloth or dried materials with a leather brush. If leather is still marked, gently use a damp cloth to lift dirt from the surface.
Only use products that are specifically designed for vegetable tanned leather. Never machine wash or submerge and soak the leather.
After cleaning, condition with a suitable conditioning product following the manufacturer's application guidance. Do not over condition.
OTHER MATERIALS
All hardware used on our items are solid brass. The brass will develop natural patina over time and age with use. This is part of the natural ageing of solid brass.
Cotton webbing and linings can be gently spot-cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid soaking, bleaching, or machine washing, as this may affect the leather.
